2 lamps on a one way " in line switching " circuit

Hello, I had looked through the wiki's and extensively searched for a similar set up but could not see anything similar.

This is how i am intending to have lighting in my loft.

As I could not find anything similar it got me wondering if this is viable..

Logically to me it seems ok but any advice would be helpful.

Cable I have used for all connections is 1.5mm t+e . Is there any need to sheeth any cable at any point ? I am going to use earth conduit of course.

Can you elaborate the diagram?
It looks like you are wiring the lamps in series instead of parallel as it should be.
Otherwise it is ok.

Can you take the supply from an existing fitting instead of using a junction box?

1mm² will be more than adequate. Where did this obsession with 1.5 come from?

Your will need to sleeve with green&yellow all bare CPCs (earth wires)

I don't know what that means. Do you mean the g&y sleeving?

You could use 1mm² 3 core flexible cable where the CPC will be already insulated.

The jb is already there nearby where i want the switch. The nearest ceiling rose is quite a distance away, thats why I chose to go from the JB.

I wasn't 100% clear on parallel wiring.. is the only advantage that if the first lamp blows the second one goes out too? or is there more to it?

That will happen with 'in series' plus the lamps will both be dim.

They must be wired in parallel.

No it doesn't.

It does to me.
The Ls are not connected and the N looks continuous at the first lamp.

Either way, it isn't clear.

Is it correct to have the feed going into the switch then up to lamps?

I see most lighting diagrams have the feed going to lamp first then off to switch.

Yes that's fine.

yes the diagram is pretty duff.. the live and neutrals and earth will all be connected from switch to lamp and to the next. kind of "daisy chained"

One thing to check - that the junction box supplies cable containing permanent live and neutral; and not a switch cable containing permanent live and switched live.

Whats a tell tale sign for that? I have a multi-meter, whats a good method to check?

I will follow it back to source and forward to destination to see if I can tell.
