Anyone used one of these , are they any good for a Temporary/Permanent repair ?
I Have seen a similar type "Clip on" looked a bit gimmicky and large.

Got called out to a burst pipe over the weekend, Water Board had been, turned mains off in Pathway and left occupier with a couple of bottles of water and said " its now your problem", despite the leak being the other side of the water meter.
I would normally use a slip lock coupling, but the leak (Pinhole) was in 1/2 inch black poly pipe circa 1972, Plumbers merchants do not stock the 3/4 inch exterior fitting compression joints and liners, and even ordering one would take a week or more,( thank goodness the occupiers have good neighbours to supply them with water).
To cut the pipe and put on a compression fitting is going to be a problem because pipe runs in channel in concrete floor, (I reckon the pinhole leak is original and been leaking into footings since it was installed)
I saw this fitting on the "net" and thought this might work,
Dont think the customer can afford total replacement of the poly pipe back to the stopcock. (And it looks like it could be a 5 minute job to fix it. when it arrives.)

A Philmac 21 – 27 mm UTC x 21 – 27 mm UTC
ref. code 97114410
no need for pipe liners,

Thanks, I used a similar fitting to that a couple of years back to fit Copper to Galvanised Pipe, found the fitting bulky, which is the problem here, I need a slimline type of fitting to fit into the tight space and channel.

Philmac 3G (current range) fittings will fit imperial alkathene without adaptors or liners. 9133 will do the job, or a 90133, which is a slip coupler, might be better.

If you want something more slimline, 3/4" Kuterlite 1710 plus a couple of 3/4" 1766 liners.

Philmac, about a fiver.
Kuterlite, about 25 notes.

Now do you think you could squeeze the Philmac coupler in? ;)

Thanks I will give the philmac slip coupler a go, it will be a tight fit to get it into place, and will have to order it, thats why the stockists dont stock Kuterlite too expensive and no turnover these days.
at least the customer realises its a problem and accepts it,
cant think why the pipe sprung a leak, No nail evidence, or sharp stone etc, one of those mysteries, reckon its been going for years. Cheers.

If its a pinhole you can use a wide jubilee clip with a piece of inner tube works well

Pinholes can happen out of the blue and not visible to the naked eye. (Except when water is spurting out of it, obviously.) We had returns any time before the 25 year guarantees ran out.

As a distributor my former employer still stocks Kuterlite 1700 range just for pour souls such as yourself.
