Getting petrol...?

Not sure if rules have changed but there used to be written on every pump "minimum delivery 2 litres".

This does not mean you can't buy less (my mate bought 80p's worth for his moped!!) but that it is only accurate on a minimum delivery of 2 litres.

lol, I've just dug this photo out from last month. I was 9 miles from home when I took this picture, I literally had 40p in pennies nothing else. I drove home like Miss Daisy and it did it fine, even afterwards it made it to the petrol station!

[Make sure the can is on the ground when you fill it, and you wont get splashed,
Certain Supermarket Garages will ban you if dont put the can on the ground.
It`s to do with the possibility of a static discharge  if the can isn`t on the ground

MwRoofline - what car was that in? Every car i've driven with a 'miles to go' function switches to just display "low" when there's less than (approx) 30miles in the tank. Assume that's to stop people thinking, i've got another 10miles to go yet, only to find out the hard way that the computer isn't 100% accurate...

Didn't the minimum delivery thing become common after the fuel blockades years ago where people were panicking about running out of petrol. I recall being at out local station and people had queued up for ages and when they got to the pump, put about 50p worth in, because the tank was already near enough full and that's all it'd take.

Supermaket station bans!?!?! I was once ejected from a multi-storey car park by the security guard once when I was a teenager, but never imagined it was possible to be banned from Tesco's petrol station!! :)

I have some of those MOD 40 litre jerry cans. The quality is excellent but you need to be sure the lid is clamped on properly. I know this because I filled one, laid it flat in the boot of the car and a good litre or two went glug glug glug all over the boot mat and down into the wheel well before I realised the cap was on crooked.

Yes, fill the petrol can on the ground in case you overfill it or spill some. Squeeze the trigger gently and watch the pump carefully.

If I've got an electric car, how much electricity can I get in a 20L jerry can?

Now that's an interesting question. If you stuck it under a lightning bolt and put the top on real quickly I reckon you'd have enough electrickery to get to Edinburgh and back.
