Hi all.

Question: I have White Single Pole double sockets, can I change them for double pole double sockets.

Reason: The double sockets I want to install; Nickel colour effect, use Double pole wiring and there aren't any single pole options.

Yes you can, single pole will only switch the live but double pole will switch the live and neutral.

It won't make any difference when it comes to replacing/wiring them up.

it may be worth checking that your backboxes will accomadate them sockets

I'd stay clear of B&Q (Volex) sockets, last ones I was asked to fit the wires kept on falling out of the terminals.

Hmm Volex.
Lovely

I like SuperSwitch in Poundland :D

Nowt wrong with Volex, or was it Tenby, I found some FCUs in the garden where someone else had thrown out 30 year old storage heaters, dried them out and they're working fine.

I think Poundland Superswitch are made by Honeywell. Got some metalclad double sockets for ... a pound!

I've also bought Poundland Superswitches, two-gang 2-way switches single sockets and switched FCU (all metalclad) and chucked them in my "stock" basket. Can't go wrong for £1.

The superswitch range is all listed right at the back of the MK catalogue, so presumably made by the same people.

MK is yet another company that Honeywell now own.
