Hi,
I was told how much more efficient LED lights are so I bought a ceiling lamp on ebay to see if I could easily fit it before deciding to change out all the lights in my house.

The lamp has arrived but there are only 2 wires in brown sleeves for me to connect.

I was expecting at least a blue and brown sleeve wire. Could anyone give some advice on how the wire should be connected as.

I have uploaded the images below.

Many thanks in advance

The light looks a bit dubious regarding whether it is suitable for uk
Is there a link to the fitting on ebay.
If not a picture of the inside of the light and a readable shot of that label and any markings inside the fitting would be more help

Can't read label but would assume either live to either live. Remember neutral is considered as live. So brown (old red) to any brown and blue (old black) to brown left over.

But in UK one would expect to see an earth connection to a metal light or have the

mark plainly in view.

I would suggest you contact the ebay seller for the manufacturers installation instructions!

Thanks for everyone's reply.

The cover can't be removed to reveal the inside.

I have put a few more photos where you can see that the lid is actually bolted down. I have also put a clearer shot of the label and it is for up to 240v

The ebayer seller is base in Cardiff so fingers cross this will work in a UK home.

I will also contact the seller to for installation instruction.

The cover must be removable, otherwise there is no way of fixing it to the ceiling.

However, it appears to be an imported item not intended for sale in the UK or Europe.
There is no earth connection, no suggestion it is a class 2 / double insulated, and not really any way it could be with all that exposed metalwork.
No CE mark or manufacturer name/address.
Internally it will probably be a small generic LED driver module, 2 wires in, 2 wires out, and a plastic disc with a quantity of individual LEDs on it.

It will probably work on 240V AC, whether it is actually safe is another matter.

The domed plastic cover will be removable to give you access to the insides.

That's true that I can't mount to the ceiling otherwise.

I managed to pry it open. Previously, I was looking to screw the lid off but couldn't find any.

Please see photos of the inside if the lamp

Yes Chibese writing. Sold by an eBayer in Cardiff though.

Does it work in UK homes and does a transformer make it better or worse in that can it be use here?

Thanks

It will work here but I certainly wouldn't be comfortable installing it in my home. There's no way you can properly connect it to your house wiring which complies with British wiring regulations. Send it back and buy something safe from a reputable seller of light fittings.

Even better, report it to Trading Standards, unless there's a CE mark somewhere you haven't shown us, the ebayer is breaking the law.

OK, just spotted the CE marking in your later photo.
