Hi everyone, Last year i have invited two independent loft conversion companies in to my small place. Both times i have been said that in order to proceed with successful conversion i need an extra 60cm in terms of head room. The only way to achieve it to remove tons of concrete floors /few layers of old floors. Years ago i did convert an office into dwelling. the floor condition was terrible so i had it screeded /100mil/. Now if look at pictures you can see whole situation

//www.diynot.com/network/user_album_update.php?album_id=23512

screed already removed
concrete 3 removed
concrete 2 removed

concrete 1 only partially, few pilots.

Now. The main question CAN i remove concrete 1 and lay course of bricks on foundation footing for floor support??? the reason for it that i want to insulate floor this time /Styrofoam between floor joists/ to save space.

I would be very great full for any suggestions.

maybe they should have been cellar conversion co.s :confused:

why would i?? loft conversion is possible providing ill gain 0.6m of head room.
the only way to do so is to lower floor. now i have 3 steps inside, by lowering 0.6 more or less floor at entrance gonna be same level as street. AND finally because loft conversion people do not DEAL with ground digging, iam trying to deal with it my self.
