Will we get a vote after all? What's the process, does it need a commons vote on a referendum or can Cameron just bring it forward? Personally I don't believe we'll leave because I can't see Merkel letting us walk away and leave Germany on its own - as the only contributor I mean! I think she'll do whatever it takes to get us to stay. Still, can't wait to see the rest of the Euro spongers squirming their little ar$es off.

I don't believe for one minute we'll get a straight in/out referendum. It will be a watered down version, something like
"Should the UK stay in the European Union (tick box)

Should the United Kingdom re-negotiate it's terms and conditions (tick box)

I truly don't believe there will be a tick box for " Let's get the hell out of this pernicious union as soon as possible." ;) ;)

I don't think Cameron ever intended to exit the eu open market as it works well for all member states, the big issue with the eu constitution is that its outgrown its original mandate, and that was to oversee and control the free trade and labour process, the problem now is that they are a law unto themselves, and a large part of the eu budget it used on Bureaucracy ie a government within a government, and this is what the UK and other members don't want. if Cameron cant negotiate a deal that suits the UK and puts that to the electorate, outlining what the consequence of a no vote would be, then the balls in our court!!

The only reason he offered a referendum on Europe was that he never thought he'd get a majority and therefore wouldn't have to honour his promise. Now he doesn't know what to do.

When taking the Tory, UKIP and DUP share of the UK vote together, it shows that over 50% have voted for parties who support an EU referendum.

David Cameron may have a small majority, but the euro-sceptics amongst his back benchers will not let him renege on his promise to call one by end 2017.

i very much doubt we will ever get out of europe, theres to much powers in control globally, they want a new world order, they will strip us of our sovereignty in all but name.

No problem about an EU referendum for Cameron. He'll just forget about it like some "no ifs, no buts" promises he made 5 years ago.

They never warned anyone on the run up to the election that a vote for Cameron is a vote for Merkel and Hollande.

RIP Nige! :(

So when 2017 comes along and Camoron decides that he HAS to ask his electorate to vote whether to stay in the EU or leave, how do you think that it will go? Tory boy will no doubt have negotiated a new deal with our overlords in Brussels that will see us sinker even deeper crap than we are at the moment.

On the other hand, he might well negotiate better terms for our continued membership of the" club"... (then Labour will get in and allow the EU to have these terms changed back in favour of Europe) ;) ;) (at least we won't be able to blame Milibland for that)

Camoron has only a majority of 12 if 7 of his mp's aren't happy with his performance then his majority government could become a minority one.

Whatever happens, we'll bend over and get shafted up the arris as usual

I may be pleasantly surprised, but I don't think we'll ever see our referendum during this administration. Cameron has reneged on his promises before.

In five years, when things have got even worse (queues down the street for GP appointments and hospitalisation, for example), perhaps people will realise that UKIP had the right idea after all. Too late then, of course.

The only way of overcoming our unfair electoral system is for MORE than 4 million people to vote for UKIP.

Why have we got to wait until 2017, busy at the printers are they. Why cant we have a lottery style voting slip with other things on it, death penalty, stop all immigration and refugees, repatriation, going green becoming another u.s state or whatever and then we can see democracy in action not the shambles we have where 5% of the population votes for a party, ukip, and ends up with one seat. snp polls same number of votes and gets 55 seats, never mind being run from Brussels its more likely to be from Edinburgh.
