The Lottery

:)When the lottery began, I began to buy a ticket twice a week using the same numbers and although I did win £125 and later £120 plus a few £20s and £10s, I decided to stop a year ago. Took up the health lottery with the same numbers but more or less got the same returns without the £100+ ones. I stopped that and started buying a lucky dip in the Euro lottery twice a week. What a change of fortune! I have been lucky enough to get a return on almost every single draw. The wins have been small, usually 2 numbers (£3+), or 3 Numbers (£6-£7) and I don't expect it to last. However, a couple of weeks ago I won £17+ followed by (£6+) followed by 2 @ £3+. Then on Xmas day when my my wife made her own crackers with personalised gifts inside + a lottery ticket, I was the only one to win (£5.30). Cashed it in on Monday and got another ticket off the proceeds which last night turned up 2 numbers(£2.30). Now I know that some people out there will have had great returns in the lottery but have any of them had such consistent luck?

Now that I have created the thread, I guess that my luck will change.:(

You're on a roll! (y)

Yes, we've had consistent luck - consistently bad luck. Been in a syndicate for National Lottery since day one. Fourteen of us putting a line in each person, each week. Apart from the occasional tenner or a rare £100, the returns for 14 people playing all these years have been very poor. But it's got to the stage where people have been in so long that everyone wants to keep going, the logic being that the week we stop is the week our numbers come up. Crazy really.

If we'd saved all the money instead of giving it to Camelot, we'd be rich by now.

I buy a couple of lines twice a week - never win a carrot.
Not that I like carrots anyway........

I know the feeling and still check to see if the numbers we used to use, (birthdays), come up. The problem is, that by using birthdays your chances of winning are cut dramatically. For example, who do you know that was born on the 46th of any month?

I've been doing the same numbers for years now and have had moderate success. I win more on the Euro - £2.70 last week :D

used to do it regularly, but stopped about 9 years back.
i do do the euro and any roll overs though.
stopped scanning the results for the lines we used to do after about 4 weeks.

Strangely enough, 46 is one of my numbers. It was the number of my first flat. Still not done me any good.

Anyone had any good wins, or know anyone who has?

years back worked on a site, and a suit apparently had 5 numbers and a bonus ball won about 60 odd grand?
week before he wouldve won nearly 200k.thats how we knew about it coz we were all talking about bad luck etc.

Visiting friends in Scotland on Monday, I decided to go for a haircut and when I came out spotted a newsagent with the lotto sign next to the barbers and went in to cash in on the ticket I got in my Xmas cracker. The lady behind the counter told me that a few years before, she got a phone call from Camelot saying that her colleague wouldn't be in to work that day because she had won £9,000,000 with a lucky dip.
The newsagents,"Good luck with your lucky dip"worked for me and I won £2.30.:D

I used to sort the works syndicate.
I can't remember how many lines were played, but it was around 70.
Around late 2008, just around the time that the economy was all going t!ts up, we were all thinking like we might be the ones "up the road".
We got five numbers. 32 was the sixth, and we had 31. Or the other way round, I don't recall exactly.
It was the difference between £38 each that we did pocket, and £37k each that we didn't.

Would have made a nice little comfort blanket, that.

Is anyone having a go on www.lottoland.co.uk?

It seems that you can play various other lotteries from around the world. I'm not clear how it works, but it looks like you are betting on the result - but you can win the same amounts as if you were playing. I can't work it out how they could afford to pay out all those jackpots every time?
