Gas hob - permanent electrical connection?

Got a new Gorenje gas hob, and the installation instructions say it needs to be permanently wired into the mains, behind a double pole isolator.

Now, if that's what it says, I guess that's what I'll have to do - but why???? It only needs the power for the piezo lighters. My previous hob was just plugged into a regular socket with a 5A fuse.

A plug and socket is an excellent double pole isolator. Pull the plug and both poles are isolated.

No need to follow instructions to the letter especially when they are stupid.

Write to them and ask for the electrical engineering justification.

Doesn't come with a plug. Installation instructions only talk about hard wiring. Can't think of a single justification for this!

I thought gas appliances must be protected with a fuse no greater than 3A.

If that is so (I don't think it is) the fuse should be integral to the appliance. The fuse in the plug, fcu, or CU is to protect the cable not the appliance.
