Double knock on Texecom Prem Elite question

I got a puppy 6 weeks ago that now resides in the kitchen/diner through the day whilst I'm at work. I replaced a couple of PIR's from the old existing system to Bosch Pet Tritec's, yesterday the dog set the alarm off whilst locked in the kitchen. As a puppy she is very active and had a field day with the vertical blinds yesterday so I'm assuming it was this activity that caused the alarm.

Due to the way the kitchen/diner has been wired (and its not ideal and is on my to so list) I have 2 x Bosch Tritec's (in the kitchen) and the back door magnetic contact (in the utility room) all on the same zone.

If I was to put the zone on 'double knock' at the panel at the default 7 seconds and a genuine break in attempt opened the back door (first knock but obviously the circuit is now open) would the alarm sound after the 7 seconds if the door was left open whilst the intruder walked into the kitchen? cheers.

Cant really try it till weekend as I'm out early till late so though someone here could give a definitive answer before then, don't really want the house unsecure but on the other hand I don't want the dog setting the alarm off again.

What cable goes to the detectors?
How are the detectors wired EOL or double pole ?
You could break the circuit down with different wiring methods
Door contact on double knock is not a good idea
Puppy training lessons mite be needed!!!

if only it was so easy! the cable is a 10 core coming out of the panel into the plaster and into the sealed ceiling space, there are 4 wires at each detector (so no tamper connected) so somewhere the cables are spliced off to other zones. At the moment I'm stuck with this wiring.

I'm a bit disappointed with the Bosch Pet Tritecs though, I thought they where supposed to be quite good but according to the alarm log the zone was activated twice 40 seconds apart.

I have to ask was it installed as specified by the manufacturer?

seen an alarm installation today that was left by an alarm company in such a mess?

I've never had an issue with Bosch pet detectors , was a pet version you fitted ? As they did a non pet tritec

Yes defiantly a pet version, installed at the recommended height, left the bottom mask in to cover under the detector and left the microwave adjuster as it was. My puppy is only a springer spaniel of 12kg and these detectors are supposed to ignore up to 45 kg. Should a mad dog jumping about at the same time the vertical blinds are swinging around be ignored though?

In my experience over (too many years) the Microwave as supplied will be adjusted to its maximum range. I've never had to install one like that, they always need 'turning down'

Adjust to minimum setting, move to furthest point directly in front of the detector, let it settle down, then slowly walk towards, if it goes off within 3 paces, you are going to have problems with the dog.

I just love the words 'supposed to ignore'


The cage idea is the answer, that's what most people do, or even isolate that detector if the dog is there, the rest of the house is protected (?)

The 'supposed to ignore' comes off the Bosch technical blub it says It ignores signals caused by
one or two pets up to 45 kg (100 lb) or numerous rodents.

The microwave setting was set to the middle although there was no mention of distances related to the pot position on the documentation at all but I'll try setting as per your recommendation.

I do have a dog cage but she sleeps in that only at night in another room, some days we're out at work up to 10 hours so there's no way a puppy could stay in a cage that long.

As now have it on double knock I cant think of any major issues security wise why it shouldn't work as required, hopefully the worst issues is a genuine break-in (through the kitchen) and the alarm activation is delayed by 7 seconds.
