I rang our Local B&Q Tradepoint Counter for a specific item advertised in the Catalogue which they have to order, I was told they cannot order it and would have to contact the main Head Office number given in the Catalogue Which I did, I was then again told I was unable to order it ( Not Available)
I decided about 3PM yesterday afternoon to try the on line Web address to order it, the order went through and was delivered by Courier by 10 AM this morning.
I fail to see the logic behind this ordering system !!

Sounds like a franchise.

They are probably cutting down on staff so wanting everyone to use t'internet.

Thats what I think its a Franchise and I bet the Item I wanted,
to arrive so quickly was at the Local Store but could only be sold through the Internet facility

Another Tradepoint whinge- I wanted a door (in their standard cheapo 4 panel range but not a stock item). For some bizarre reason they couldn't do it Click and Collect so I had to hang around all day at the House of Pain on the appointed day waiting for the delivery. To be fair, it did arrive on the day specified and is square and true (which can't often be said for the shop floor doors) so not all bad.....

Last time I resolved not to buy from trade point it was some tiles they had advertised at a good price, couldn't order them online, in store only.. I went in, asked about them, they weren't on the computer for stock shop but we're showing on some head office system. The special monkey in e shop actually opened up one computer screen, got a pad and pen out, wrote down a very long product number, then went and typed it into another program, on the same computer (copy paste anyone?), got it wrong twice (copy paste anyone?) and then announced at he couldn't order them. I ended up speaking to the manufacturer, who said they couldn't remember the last time the tiles were supplied to bnq

They work on the mucking fuddle principal, I tried to purchase water pipe, the stores computer showed they had 5 in stock but the staff said they "would never find them" so order for next day collection only to be told it's not in stock the day I tried to collect, bought elsewhere and took a month to get the credit back on my account.

Whereas screwfix; same co, different approach, seem to do no wrong for me. Excellent customer service (=they replace faulty stuff without quibble, accept returns well over the 30day policy, happy to price match anything if you take a printout into store to help their administrative lives) and a good range of gear, and their cheapo noname brand is manufactured for them by top names. They've never really disappointed me to be honest, yet nearly every visit to B&Q has been a let down
