System boiler and UVC set up

Salt softener negates the need for the snake oil.
And the magnetic filter? I've read some mixed reviews on the Magnaclean, i.e.:
"i would never use a magna clean for several reasons...the magnets loose effectiveness over time because the sit in hot water and the plastic casing has no impermeable barrier to allow ingress of oxygen into the heating pipes"

Magnaclean or a Spirotrap MB3 is always a good idea. A Spirovent RV2 wouldn't go amiss either

Surely an impermeable barrier will not allow an ingress of oxygen?

More importantly is this "builder" installing your boiler?

Guys
I went with your general advice to have a UVC instead of storage combi, and purchased the Intergas ECO RF 24 and Joule Cyclone cylinder myself. However, the contractor is trying to charge an extra 1.2k (including his 20% markup) JUST for fitting the cylinder (+200£ extra for plumbing materials). [Btw, he's already charged 1350 for fitting/plumbing the boiler itself!] So all in all, that's 2.8K for the whole job.

In regard to the cylinder itself, he claims he used two heating engineers for a total of 48 man hours. I thought the cylinder should only take an extra 1/2 day to max one day to fit for one person?! I realise pricing varies (and i will probably pay more for being in Harrow), so it's more the man hours for fitting the cylinder that i am curious about. How long should a cylinder take to fit?

So the builder is charging his 20% markup on the boiler and cylinder which you purchased?

I am not permitted to tell you what I would have charged for the installation but it would certainly be less than your builder I suspect.

But then he is doing a larger job and has to make a profit to stay in business and perhaps his plumbing charges are subsidising the other work?

I don't work very fast but I am sure that I would never take 48 hours to fit a cylinder.

No, i purchased boiler and cylinder myself and that is not included in his pricing.

What i meant was that he charged me 1350£ for fitting/plumbing Vaillant 938 storage combi (including markup). That was fine. However, i then decided to have a system boiler and UVC instead of the Vaillant 938. He now wants an extra 1.5k just for the fitting/plumbing the cylinder. As evidence for that, he has told the contract administrator that he contracted two heating engineers for 24 hours each JUST FOR THE CYLINDER.

I understand you guys can't really give me prices, but i don't really need that. But it would be helpful to know approximately how many man hours are typical for installation of the cylinder itself. It's a 200L Joule Cyclone if that makes any difference.
