How long should a T-Shirt last?

For probably past 5years I have bought my tshirts from Primark , I only buy tshirts from them as the rest of the stuff they sell is cheap fast fashion crap that doesn't lasts, But the Tshirts are Decent and they are only £2 or £2.5 a piece for a cotton tshirt.

But I'm always wondering why do they wear out so fast? I get maybe 20 washes for a tshirt before it starts to show some wear and starts to loose its shape and holes start to appear, than I use them to do some dirty work/than use them as rags.
I only wear a tshirt for max 1day as they stink up so 20days for a piece of clothing sounds like an awful short time?

Realistically How long should a cotton tshirt last? (how many washes? ) I would happily pay 5-6x more for a branded tshirt if It would last also 5-6x times more but somehow I don't think that's really the case with all this fast fashion crap?

My partner has old gig t-shirts from 30 years ago that are still going strong. Bit faded tho!

I think most clothing quality has gone down hill now, no matter where you buy it from. But you won't get as good quality from primark as you will going to something like M&S or debenhams, although they too are poorer than they were. And the best thing about shops like M&S is they take things back, no quibble refunds.

Take up a sport, a calling, a crusade, or whatever that gives out free T-shirts.

I have so many, I rarely wear each one more often than once a year. I have T-shirts going back to early 90's and earlier.

Except they have to produce for you 5 tshirts and you have to throw 5 tshirts out in dump where I would be much happier if I wouldn't have to create such a waste...

I have tshirts easily gone 50 washes plus and still look decent. A few questions would be how are you washing, harsh 50/60 degrees etc? I wash my tshirts mixture of branded and cheap at 30 degrees. Only bedding and towels do I wash much hotter.

Not always true, some of the primark type places the t-shirt is really thin material. Soft and comfy yes, but soon become threadbare. Throwaway fashion for sure! I find the thicker t's the longer lasting, but still not as long lasting as they used to be

Try & get genuine fruit of the loom shirts as they last for years. When they're past it take them to be recycled, not dumped. Some charity shops will take unusable stuff & sell it on.

Have you tried hand washing at at 30°, instead of throwing the t-shirts in the cement mixer with engineering bricks at the end of the day?

I buy these and find them hard-wearing and quality fabric and stitching. Some T shirts you buy are very very thin. These are a good weight, 180gsm.

The only problem I have is not the shirt's fault. When I cook, I get fat splashed onto them and it does not wash out entirely. I need to wear an apron!

As for the holes, do you have a cat?

We find the odd hole in (usually) shirts where the cat has stuck a claw through. It doesn't show until after a few washes, when the pin hole opens out a bit.

I find Uneek gear very good quality kit, especially for the price. I have had loads of over the years, some workwear, some leisurewear; it's all good.

There are many colours of this Uneek shirt available. It's worth a 3 quid investment to see what they're like, no?

So do I. However, they seem to have shrunk horribly in recent years.
