Was in the process of replacing a bottle trap & waste for a bathroom basin. The original trap had been on there for donkeys years and had a ton of plumbers mate pasted on as well as having been painted over. Couldn't get the locknut for the waste loosened thanks to the goon who had clogged up the threads with paint and sealer! So the big boy adj spanner was fetched. No still wouldn't budge so used a bit more force CRACK! The ceramic around the waste had cracked :(

So now I've got to go fit a new basin. Ah well it's an excuse to replace the existing taps I'd been meaning to do for some time. The other half has picked a waterfall tap see here, anyone know if these are any good as I'll be fitting this basin. I'm hoping not to have to mess around with the existing tile work though the old style basin had supporting brackets which I'll need to remove and was smaller so the new basin will I hope fit onto the existing tiles.

They are designed for looking at and never using.

There are two options:
a. Flow rate is low enough for the water to fall off the front = takes 10 minutes to obtain a useful amount of water.
b. Flow rate high enough to actually use = water goes over the top of the basin and onto your trousers.

In hard water areas they also scale up really quickly due to water remaining on the flat outlet.

Modern wash basins are very shallow, last time I used one of these basins with these taps, it splashed so much it looked like I'd pizzed myself!!

Seen a few similar waterfall basin taps, when your finished using the tap it needs to be cleaned and any water left in the spout shoot needs to be dried out or it will drip over then run down the front of the tap leaving manky scale deposits on its travels.

The incoming water flow rate has to be equal/balanced very important.
Some need non return valves fitting.
Check if they are wras approved.
They have to be exactly level otherwise the water fall will be off centre.

Interesting looking taps,thou

Got a few in my scrap bin, they will soon be going back to their makers to be made into more taps

1. See comments above - triumph of form over function.
2. The web site says 10 year guarantee, the installation manual says 1 year.
3. Installation manual says "Total loss of product due to non-availability of parts" is not covered by guarantee. I'd read this as "if we can't get the parts you're out of luck".

I suspected as much, looked too good to be true I guess that's why most people don't fit them because they are utter rubbish. Form over function along with economy of scale over durability is the bane of modern life simply contributing to landfill. Really annoys me :(

Fella, your Linked product is not utter rubbish.

Many of those waterfalling taps are perfect but need correct selection and fitting.

So its buyer beware
