Why do we need negotiators?

you don't think that "working hard for the best possible relationship" is better than giving up and walking away?

We have already established that resigning our membership and giving up our vote in the chamber, and our voice in the committee rooms, has weakened us. Now firewood is happy to walk out of negotiations to limit the damage.

you said

So you're still happy to abandon negotiations then.

Instead of striving for an amicable and mutually beneficial relationship.

That'll be because you're a Quitter.
Poor old johnmhong... You can't read can you?

Have you been eating Dutch eggs again? If a reasonable settlement cannot be achieved, then I see no point in accepting an unreasonable one.. naturally you would because you are a snivelling EU backside kisser

It depends.

If that best possible relationship keeps us subservient to the EU, but without a voice then we'll see a gradual pace of EU policy designed to cherry pick the UK economy.

If that deal makes it difficult to negotiate with non-EU states then that too is a problem

Lastly, if the price tag is too high, then we end up worse off

Given that the US presidency is a bit of a time bomb I personally think the EU negotiations could be getting in the way of alternative options

tell me how you think that happened to Norway and Switzerland.

Are you suggesting that giving up your vote, and your voice in the conference room, was not a marvellous idea?

Are we planning to be an EEA member then? I thought that meant freedom of movement? Isn't that a red line?

Neither country is of the same scale and neither funded the EU net 10-15bn

Nobody knows the policies, objectives and priorities of the UK government.

Especially not the UK government.

This is a cause of considerable frustration and annoyance to everybody trying to reach agreements.

Instead of making notes on avoidance, you need to make notes of what is actually written. And then read your notes.

I never made any statement about it being fine. What I wrote was that Brexit is happening, and instead of whining on about EU want this, EU said that, The Guardian reported this, the left wing says that.

Why can't people like you just get behind the UK instead of getting behind our competitors or the other parties in the negotiation against the UK?

Why are you so intent on dwelling on every single bit of commentry that the EU has the upper hand and the EU will benefit from any negotiation, and that the UK is crap and the UK are losers?
So again, you want to hide from facts. I would rather hold those in power to account, than blimdly support them (which is what you are advocating).

How much is too high a cost for Brexit?

The duty of the Government is to act in the best interests of the country.

As no one has a clue what will happen, it is impossible to say that that is the case.

I am

however that does not necessarily mean supporting the policies of the government of the day.

That's nice to hear, and yes questioning the policies is normal and right.

In the context of Brexit though, too many UK citizens want it to fail, want the UK to fail, and I find that bizarre.

recognising that Brexit is failing, is not the same as wanting the country to fail.

Yes of course it is.
It also means that the blokes around the conference table have no access to ours.
No say. Nowt.
They can't tell us what to do. Just close the door in their faces.
Know what I mean johnd?
Same way I'd slam the door in your face if you wanted access to my conference room. lol

There's lots of negotiating to be done yet, Johnnyboy, yet you maintain that the negotiations are failing already. Do you actually believe everything that comes out of a pro EU politicians mouth? Seems like you do.. I bet you believed Blair when he told us Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. (sucker)
