Tiling advice needed please

Hello,

I am tiling my kitchen using bevelled tiles, it's only a small area and i need to cut around 2 plug sockets but the reviews i've read of tile saws and manual saws scorers etc aren't very good, any advice on what cutter i could get from b and q without spending ££££ for like 4 tiles that need L shaped cuts.

Or you could do them with a diamond wheel on a grinder.

Practice using spare tiles, and a tile scriber, and pliers to snap the waste off. Its simple after a little practice.
Just nibble away at the waste - you can use a number of scribed lines to ease the nibbling.

Or you could hire a basic tile saw.
Snap cutters will also work.

Ok i got a cheap b and q tile cutter off gumtree, works fine for straight cuts but i can't seem to do L shapes so that i can tile around the sockets they keep snapping any advice or is a tile scribe needed.

You got a snap cutter a machine with slide bars and a pressure lever? Or one of those things that look like glorified pliers?

The one with the bars and cutting wheel doing L shaped is just impossible they snap and then that's tiles wasted.

Nibbling will work - and used carefully, so too will a tile disc in a small angle grinder..

Nibbling with tile pliers is your best bet, or if you have a jigsaw you can get a tile cutting blade, finish off using a Ceramic tile file, if you have a coping saw you can get get a tile cutting blade for that.

dont forget to get longer screws for the sockets, the thickness of the tiles might not allow the old screws to fix to the back box.

My sockets do not have screws they are screwless and clip on covers brushed steel.

that's the faceplate but they clip into a backplate that is screwed on. get a tile saw, you cant cut at right angles with a break cutter.

Yes lol i realised that i've gone round the sockets rather than go under them with the tiles and use longer screws not greatly neat but the grout should help that as said only a small area and does look very nice.
