Its only when you watch the second video that you can see the true scale and size of this operation. I thought it was about 40' feet wide.
Buts its more like 300' feet.
 
Actually 178 ft wide.
The 'canyon' after the break line was eroded 150 ft deep ! now nearly completely filled with Roller Compacted Concrete.

An appreciation of 150,000 CFS (Cubic Feet per Second) - 1 Cubic Foot of water is approximately 28.32 litres = approx' 6.23 Imperial gallons = approx' 62.3 lbs.
62.3 x 150,000 / 2240 = 4,172 tons/sec (long, UK tons)
California DWR (Department of Water Resources) say the diffusers at spillway base were absorbing 1 million horsepower !!

The Oroville Dam plays a crucial role in the irrigation of America's breadbasket - California - therefore extremely important, probably to all of us.

BTW how does one compact concrete with a roller? Wont the roller sink?
 
I think the subbie is pulling a fast one with that "rolled concrete" blarney.
