Another lie, thats what you're good at.
Are you saying that you were here under different persona before you joined as mwatsonxx? ....

What a joke this place has become, its all the usual guessing and wildly ridiculous speculation. None of you have a clue about live cable working, the circumstances when its allowed and when its not allowed. The procedure of "spiking" is only reluctantly carried on unidentifiable cables, and the idea that it would be done inside a building is laughable

Well, ironically, considering how pompous your post was. It’s factually incorrect.

WPD HAVE to spike an HV cable to prove dead every time they want to work on it beyond a sheath repair, whether it’s inside a building or not (as unlikely as that may be, it’s not unheard of - we worked on a job that had been built on top of an HV cable)

They will and can also use cable spiking if they are unable to verify the cable type on a presumed LV.

It’s not the first port of call no, because live LV working is commonplace. But if there is any doubt as to the cables voltage/origin that they cannot verify through records then they’ll spike it.

Maybe you should have a read up next time.

to mwatsonxx In case you didn't notice there is a link to a well informed source of accurate information accessible to educate you if you ( have the courage to ) click on it.

Maybe you should have a read up next time.

As it happens I am meeting a WPD technician tomorrow to sort out a problem with a street light when he attends to cut and cap a neighbour's redundant LV supply.

It can be turned into thermal insulation by the body.

As for electrical, I can think of two experiments:

a) A boring one using an IR tester.

b) One which Photonicinduction would do with HV.

I don't think you've read what I said. Most of what you have said is untrue, but who cares believe what you like. Spiking inside a building - hahaha - spoken by a man that has no idea what happens when you spike a live cable.
