Hi Folks

I'm just curious to find out that if you already have a full time job but want to leave, what excuse would you give your present employer for taking time off to attend job interviews?

Would you day you have a doctors/dentist appointment, an appointment with the bank, book annual leave, or throw a sickie?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

What’s wrong with telling them you have a job interview and need to book half a day as holiday?

Depends. If you hate your present job and/or your boss, no problem in telling them you are going for an interview. If you're on good terms, I would not say what the reason is.

When I worked for someone else years ago, I always threw a sickie for an interview. I reasoned that if I asked for a day off and they said no I was stuck. If I then threw a sickie on the same day I had previously asked to take off it would look suspicious. Throw a sickie; lot less aggro all round.

What are the chances of you getting passed the interview?

Good luck anyway, we do need more lollipop men.

Do you need an 'excuse' for time off?

Tell him it's personal.

How do you manage in the world, Geek?
That would not suffice for any job I ever had..or most people I know...and would a be route to a P45

Do you mean that in every job you have had, a reason had to be given for having a day off - and that "personal (or family) reasons" was not good enough?

Perhaps they just wanted an excuse to get rid of you.
