Internal brick pier... do I need to add dpc in the pier?

Im building a brick pier internally on a single skin wall. Do I need to add a small piece of dpc in the pier when it gets upto the height of the exsisting dpc?

This is a 7m long single skin wall that im adding strength too hence the pier. there is no cavity. Lots of tanking slurry inside though.

Is the wall is soaking below dpc indicating high ground water and pressure then perhaps yes lap or seal the joint. If not no need, turn the new piece up the wall a few inches.

We always lap it. Seems odd to want to fix it.
