Attaching modified kitchen base units to wall....

Hey Everyone,

Currently fitting my recently delivered Howdens kitchen, in order for it to work down one side of the kitchen I have had to remove the service void (60mm) from all base units, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to attach these to the newly dot and dabbed walls.

I'm aware the usual method is L brackets but now without the service void side panel protrusions on the back I can no longer use these.

I'm thinking maybe use a washer and and fix through the rear support that runs along the top above the thin back panel of the units?, sure it would be visible on the inside but I can't think of a way to avoid that.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

OK.

A screw near each end of the rail will be firmer than one in the middle. Do all your adjustment and positioning first.

Or you could use adjustable cabinet hangers as found in wall cabinets, giving some ability to adjust them.

If you keep the doors shut and don't use a torch, no-one will see them.

You could use L bracket internally screwing thru rear timber strut .

I'd get everything adjusted and the cabinets screwed together, then put a hammer fixing through the middle of each top rail. No one is going to see them in normal use.

The rail stands off the wall would that method not just snap the rail ?

Except the OP said he has cut off the service void, so surely that would mean the back rails are flush to the wall.

I opted for some M8 x 100mm frame fixings and washers to suit. Its feeling very solid possibly even more so than it would with the L brackets

I should have mentioned there was still 5mm of service void left but I added a 5mm packer to prevent it putting stress on the rail.
