LED downlights and insulation

Fitted some LED fire rated downlights recently in my extension but by the time I’d removed rockwool from around them, there’s zero sound insulation between floors.
Just after any recommendations for a better solution for when I do the other rooms, I was thinking about the shallow profile ones (more expensive but well worth it I guess) if you can still get 100mm of rockwool covering them. But the ones I’ve seen aren’t fire rated. Any pointers appreciated, thanks.

You can purchase downlights that can be covered with thermal insulation. It is wise to give them ventilation, there are also insulation guards but if you are restricted with void space they will very likely not be usable.

So I would go for a low profile fittings that can be covered in thermal insulation.

Thanks, the voids about 7inches but with the full height ones you’ve got no room for insulation. I’ll see if I can find fire rated low profile ones which can be covered over. Ta

Do they need to be fire rated?

Have you looked at any alternate forms of lighting?

They do need to be fire rated, as habitable room above.
Probably not looked very far in terms of alternatives (having big pendants elsewhere in the room), have you got something in mind?

It's only needed if you're breaking through a fire compartment. Whether there is a room above or not is irrelevant. Do you have fire doors fitted in that room?

There's a lot of surface fittings that may or may not be suitable depending on what the intended use of the lights are. Task lighting, mood lighting?

No fire doors anywhere. It’s a kitchen diner, part extension and part existing, knocked through to be open plan, with an existing bedroom above.
Hmm good question re what type of light, I guess “downlight like” isn’t a very helpful answer just after small led flush fittings really. There are other pendants elsewhere in the room.
