Hi Folks

I needed some advice about the best way to go about replacing a PIR sensor.

My steps were going to be:

1. Put the panel in engineer mode
2. Remove the mains power from the panel
3. Remove the F2 AUX 500ma glass fuse from the mainboard.

My questions are:

1. Do I disconnect the backup battery from the panel also if I've removed the AUX fuse?
2. If I remove the AUX fuse, will my keypad still stay powered up and in engineer mode?
3. Is there anything else I've missed out?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dearly appreciated

just remove the positive of the pir your going to replace ...

Hi, to replace the PIR I will need to remove all 6 wires from the sensor. I was hoping not to remove any wires from the panel, as I'm replacing 9 PIRs.

Can you please kindly expand on the comment relating to removing the positive from the PIR?

Thanks

The only thing you could get wrong is shorting the positive supply to the negative ( blowing the aux fuse ) so removing the positive + at the panel end would stop this happening ....if you don't understand this , then you shouldn't be attempting the job in the first place ...

Hi, okay this makes sense, with the battery connected the shorting could blow the fuse. I have already prepared myself with 10 extra spare fuses in the event that I short & blow the AUX fuses.

Just to report back that I managed to replaced the PIR by only removing the mains power and the Aux fuse. Aux fuse kills the power to all the sensors and keypads when removed. I kept the battery connected to stop the bell box from going off
