When an economic union becomes a political union there tends to be a backlash.

Its going to get worse as the ending of QE causes more problems for the Southern Eurozone nations.

Europe & it's false economy is BANKRUPT. It has reached the peak endurance of what your politicians consider to be a minor hindrance, that is the people who actually live it.

Those rats who jump the sinking ship might actually be the sensible ones. What's the point in going down with a sinking ship that nobody loves???

Bankrupt? Well the US debt to gdp ratio is over 100% and EU 28 about 82%.

I think you will find post elections in the EU this june/July that the populists want to take control of the EU. All of the the right wing governments have backed away from leaving the EU as they see the economic benefits.. What they plan to do is make changes.

Changes which would most likely be agreeable to many Brexiters.

Well Brexit is proof no nation state can leave.

I hope that doesnt accelerate the political union........concentrations of power always tend to empire build. Reform would be good.

I can appreciate the EU acts as a calming influence which limits nations states from going widely off the rails. Afterall quite a few EU havent been democratic for very long.

But as the UK has resigned its membership, it won't have influence, or a vote, or a veto, on what those changes are.

Just what the Brexers wanted. Give back control.

Liberal values in Europe face a challenge “not seen since the 1930s”, leading intellectuals from 21 countries have said, as the UK lurches towards Brexit and nationalists look set to make sweeping gains in EU parliamentary elections.

I was unaware nationalism and liberalism were mutually exclusive.

Oh wait, they're not, I believe that's called national liberalism.
