Barclays pulling £166bn of assets from the UK

I think the title of this thread is somewhat misleading, these arent UK assets. Nevertheless the move will negatively impact London banking.

The British bank outlined plans to expand its EU-based Irish entity in a slide presentation to investors earlier this month, saying the unit would primarily consist of Barclays corporate, investment and private banking activities and its Barclaycard credit card business in Germany.

In addition to the French, German, and Spanish branches, Barclays will ultimately move all of its European branches under control of Barclays Bank Ireland, one of the sources said.

Its other main corporate and investment banking businesses in Europe include Luxembourg, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands, according to a Reuters review of company filings.

Barclays Bank Ireland will have total assets of around 224 billion pounds after absorbing all the European business, Barclays said in its presentation to investors, out of 1.1 trillion pounds for the entire bank as of the end of 2017

You think that destroying the economy will somehow benefit you or people who are at the bottom. I really fail to see how it will happen. So explain to me how Brexit will improve your lot or that of the country. Try to be specific - not just rubbish like taking back control, our borders.

You have been brainwashed by the media into believing that is what is happening.
 
Some people are impossible to enlighten. All it will lead to is arguments, postings of further crap from newspapers and eventual blocking.

I am well educated and not someone who will post stupid things like “we can ge rid of all the immigrants”

Leaving the EU will be probably the best thing that happens to this country in my life time (y)

So you have nothing. Thought as much.

Why are you so afraid to put something down - say what the benefits are? If you can't define them, then how can you say what they are?

A well educated person as yourself would see the flaw in your argument.

It was Banks like Barclays who caused the recession, good riddence to them.
I had a Barclays creditccard account and I closed it, I got a ppi refund from them ,they had been ripping me off for years and I didn't realise it.
Haven't some of their top executives been done for financial crimes during the credit crunch.
