What would be better than a handful of people resigning parties would be if all of the hundreds of MPs opposed to Brexit announced that they would no longer be toeing their parties' lines on that topic.

They should dare their party leaders and whips to suspend them or expel them if they said "We'll be loyal to the party on every single issue except this one. Regarding any other legislation you can count on our votes, but not on this. Now - do you want our votes on all the other things, or do you want to do without them there as well?"

"Three Europhile MPs on Wednesday resigned from the Conservative party and pledged their allegiance to a new independent parliamentary group aiming to seize the centre ground of British politics. Heidi Allen, Anna Soubry and Sarah Wollaston will work with eight MPs who quit the Labour party earlier this week to form the Independent Group.

In a major challenge to Prime Minister Theresa May, the three Europhile MPs said they were leaving the Tory party over its “shift to the right” and Brexit policy.

They added in a letter to Mrs May that the Conservatives were now “in the grip” of the European Research Group of Eurosceptic Tory MPs and the pro-Brexit Democratic Unionist party, which props up the prime minister’s minority government."

“We no longer feel we can remain in the party of a government whose policies and priorities are so firmly in the grip of the European Research Group and Democratic Unionist party,” said the three MPs. “Brexit has re-defined the Conservative party — undoing all the efforts to modernise it. There has been a dismal failure to stand up to the hard line ERG which operates openly as a party within a party, with its own leader, whip and policy.”

I wish the European Research Group actually did some research, they just come out with the most idiotic statements. Article 24 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I thought what the 3 women said at their press conference interesting, and agreed with most of it.

Anna Soubry said the Conservative party has been hijacked by the brextremists.

About the only thing these In dependants will agree on is Brexit

4 th party hmmmm unlikely to get any where under our electoral system they may stand a chance if they some how do deal with the liberals ??? Dunno ?

Doubt many of them (any) would win a bye election ?????

They kinda had that chance when they voted A50 through. Surely that was the time to kick up a fuss? Not disagreeing with you, just questioning the timing.

Seems a bit strange ? May be ?

But these 8 labour MPs and 3 conservative MPs are afaik in favour of a people's vote ???

Yet do not seem to want a people's vote (bye election) on them selves ???

I'd say I'm shocked that they want to eat their cake and have it too but I'm really not.

From the letter written to the PM.
We haven't changed, the Conservative Party has and it no longer reflects the values and beliefs we share with millions of people throughout the United Kingdom.

Obviously Sourfaced Soubry forgets the "millions of voters" who actually voted to leave. She's no respecter of democracy (unless it reflects her views)

So - it's confirmed, is it? Criticism of Israel is not allowed in the Labour Party. Why not?

What is going on?
