latest:

legal risk over backstop remains unchanged.

There are rumours that the 'EU deadlock' over the weekend was not true, it was fabricated by TM to delay providing the legal details about the backstop alteration until the very last minute in the hope there would be no time for it to be scrutinised.

Otherwise know as running down the clock.......

To say 'I have secured legal changes' isnt really true.

What's she trying to do?

Hang for a no deal? Or a no Brexit?
Or hang on to her job?

Of course I've said for some time that I hope she's 'playing a blinder' ;)

She has an intractable problem, because she tried to appease the Fundamentalist Brextremists by promising something impossible.

It is impossible to have a hard border between UK and EU, but no hard border between NI (which is part of UK) and RoI (which is part of EU) and no hard border between NI and GB (which are both parts of UK).

But that's what they want and that's what she promised them.

She can promise the impossible but she can't deliver it.

The Brextremists know their demands are impossible. They know there is no solution. If they had a solution, the Backstop wouldn't be needed. They know that too.

They can't exit the Backstop by finding a solution because there is no solution. That's why they are so frightened of being stuck in it indefinitely.

Attempting to appease extremists who demand the impossible was never going to work. May knows that. Cox knows that. Rice-Pudd know that. Buffoon knows that. Gove knows that. Nothing has changed

I was amused to see GC referring to the binding agreement binding the EU to meeting the timetable, and not acting in bad faith.
He omitted to mention that it's a two-way agreement.
And it's evident over the last two years that the EU have declared their position and not moved substantially. That can't be said of the UK.
Also, the withdrawal Agreement has taken two years, and the real negotiating still to start. Does anyone really believe that the future relationship can be completed in 12 months?

That does get overlooked. The withdrawal agreement is only the initial deal to get to the deal.

or as somebody put recently: getting the withdrawal agreement is like stepping over an anthill to then stand looking up at a big mountain.

On the positive side, the last 2 years has shown the UK is awash with the best negotiators in the world.

What quitters just don't understand is that the position that the EU have taken is the one that has been agreed by all members in the event of a country wanting to leave...

The UK agreed to this position, and just because the UK is stupid enough to be the country wanting to leave doesn't mean it can moan about the EU not 'compromising'...
(The EU in fact though has compromised massively over the years regarding the UK's opt outs)

But hey, I thought quitters knew exactly what would happen - they told us they did often enough!

Furthermore, having agreed a settlement, and raifying it in all 27 countries, the EU stood by what had been agreed.

whereas UK reneged on it.

dumplum is drawn like a moth to a flame, then whinges when he gets burned.

The ERG and the DUP have rejected TM's latest deal with the EU .
The EU's intransigence threatens to destroy democracy.
What is TM up to?when her latest deal is defeated and no deal is taken off the table that will leave the UKs right to self determination in the hands of the EU.
Is this what TM wants, is there some sort of conspiracy going on.
