Thinking of buying a wacker plate...

I’m a DIYer, but have had to hire a wacker plate on several occasions, but saw this for sale:

I’m starting on my extension soon, which will need plenty of things wacked.

Does anyone had this model or a view from the specs if it’ll be up to the jobs of wacking hardcore for the floor and for block paving?

It's probably ok, but it will be made to a price (in china)


I paid slightly less than that for a 2nd hand Wacker, with a Honda engine. It's done a lot of work, and doesn't owe me a penny, but could probably be sold for what I paid for it. It's well made, I suspect even at it's age it would outlast the aldi/scheppach one

Get one with a centrifugal clutch if you can.....so much kinder on the nerves!

I heard -may have been on here, that a whacker plate that is quite light wont do much whacking.

if its too heavy to lift, its a good un!

On another note, I know a groundworking team that have their own whacker plate -when they have skips that they are filling with soil they use the whacker and they get about another 50% in

always amuses me what Aldi sell, nip out to get a pint of milk and a loaf.... come back with a combine harvester or summat (and probably forget the milk or bread)

Cheers guys. Thinking the Aldi one would be good for light to medium work....and with a 3 year guarantee I can probably use and abuse it and then get a refund if it breaks.

I’ve also looked at a few used Belle 320 wackers, they’re about £400-500 2nd hand but would probably last longer and hold their value better.

Thanks - it does seem to be the same one...one of the Aldi pictures shows the same brand.

Ok. I've pulled the trigger and ordered the Aldi one

I will provide feedback on how I get on with it.

If it has a three-year guarantee, you will need to scan the receipt! Aldi, like most other supermarkets use thermal paper for their receipts, and if kept folded in your wallet, the "ink" will "disappear" from the receipt! Thus your guarantee will be worthless!

I made a mistake like that once, I thought what a good idea if I laminated the reciept then it'd last forever, till it came out the other end of the laminater BLANK!
