Fire door frame

Hello
I need to fit a fire door frame between a living area and a garage.
I've picked up a frame but cant understand why the fire door frame is 40mm taller than standard frames? I know the wood is slightly thicker but doesn't account for 40mm.
Also do you need a intumescent strip at the bottom on the cill? Are there any special requirements regarding the cill ?

Why's it got a cill? Normally you wouldn't in that situation. Sounds more like an external door frame. Don't normally have strip/smoke seal along the bottom that I'm aware of.
+ what do you mean by "standard frames"? how big's the opening you're trying to fill?

Seems like the OP has bought an external door frame based on the fire door's 44mm thickness, and the rebates for strips.

I have taken a picture of frame in package.
Sure its internal door frame. I need it for a door 1981 x 762
I have fitted 4 other frames but they are 40mm less in height so am confused why this is longer?
So your saying I can just fit the frame with nothing at the bottom? Run the flooring and just put a stop threshold where living area drops into the garage?

So the lining in the picture does not have a cill?
Cut and fit the lining to suit your fire door. The additional height thing just means it’s a bit to trim off the bottom of the jambs to suit the door height and floor covering thickness.

Just cut the lining down to the size of the door!

It does not need a cill. Does that side the problem?

Intumescent strips with smoke seals to the sides and head only, nothing on the bottom but no more than an 8mm gap.

Rebate can either be in the door or the frame. FD frames have a rebate cut into it. Intumiscent strips have a pull off protector to reveal a sticky back. The brush type can only go in one way - obviously.

if you rebate the door, you'll have to do it again after trimming or planing.

IMO the strip is best fitted after all fitting work has been done and the liner and door have been painted. It will stick better, and you will not have awkward paint gaps or marks.
