Kewtech 107 Socket Tester

Got a Kewtech 107 socket tester which is giving some confusing results on the loop test.

Plug it in and switch on and I get a green light for the loop test but if i then test the same socket, I get an amber. Had the same thing either side of a double socket i.e. left green, right amber, left green, left amber.

Any thoughts? Im assuming they must be sitting very close to the threshold between the two 1.80Ω

Same on different circuits, upstairs, downstairs. Garage is always green though

Dirty or weak socket contacts.

If switched sockets, flick on and off several times, and
insert and remove tester or a plug several times.

Some of the sockets are brand new, others are old.

Its just tripped the RCD now as well.

What rating of fuse or circuit breaker supplies the circuits?

The tester doesnt give a figure, but the switchover from a green indicator to amber is at 1.8

True, but the tester in question gives no information as to how much lower than 1.8Ω the loop impedance may be - the "loop test" result is on e of three possibilities - "Good" (<1.8Ω), "Check" or "Urgent Check"!

Yeah it just a cheapo socket tester. I just bought it to add to the toolbox for no real particular reason and was just expecting all greens tbh so im a little bit worried.

What sort of problem would cause a higher than desired reading?

House is less than 20 years old.
