I have at present a single electric oven and a gas hob, soon we will have a new kitchen installed and I will need to wire up the new electric double oven and electric hob.

Would the old supply be suitable or would I need a new separate supply for the hob, at the moment their is a Red single cooker switch and 13A socket unit on the wall.

Thanks.

As you have not told us what the old supply is it is difficult to tell. But if the cooker switch is fed from a 32amp MCB in at least 4mm csa cable it will be suitable.

Lost of reasons.

1. Gas is more controllable.
2. Gas costs about 1/3 of the cost of electricity per kWh. (Check the rates on you bills if you find that incredible).
3. You can still cook something during a power cut.
4. Gas hobs are more reliable (no elements to burn out).

Have just looked in Consumer Unit and I have one 32Amp Circuit Breaker which is feeding the existing Oven, will this therefore be OK to supply both Hob and Double Oven?
Would the each need some form of isolating Switch?
