They were here for a while. Apparently they now think the cause is that the cold water coming into the house is too warm. 22 degrees.

I’m thinking poor flow conditions. I would love to have a go at this.
Is the bypass wedged open.?
Try running the shower with a hot tap open at the same time.
This would rule the flow problem out.
and ask for an experienced engineer to visit next, tell them you have had enough trained monkeys.
Just to clarify does this happen from all hot taps ? And the water gets scalding hot before cutting out ?
- tough sh**, just carrying on pestering them being polite. You have every right to get it fixed.Once again, thank you all for the replies and help.
We already had a senior engineer. Now I get the feeling the guys at the call centre are getting fed up with me!

Do you know if the pump has been checked?
Check you inbox. I have sent you the name and contact details for a person a few levels above the service desk.
If you go to your boiler. Press and hold the return/spanner button for 5secs this will take you to a maintenance menu. From here use the hot water up/down buttons to scroll to the 'blocking list'. If there are any errors on there make a note of them and let us know. It's on page 48ish of your maual.
Also run your shower/hot tap and make a note of the temperature your boiler shows on the LCD screen see how high it goes and if the flame goes symbol goes out and us know.
