Is a word with racist connotations

Its a new one on me.

Nitty gritty too

Apparently it was used to describe slaves in the USA that thought they were better than others?

Some one made a complaint to Plod after a TV presenter uttered the word

It was used, especially in the South, and sometimes still is, as a term for a black who expected to be treated like a human and not like scum. It is now considered rather rude.

hatejob longs for the days when racial abuse and lynchings were considered normal among people like himself.

By snowflakes.
I tend to agree with you.
Sure, words like the N-word should be banned because of the direct derogatory meaning, but words, as EFL has already pointed out that this isn't the only way the word was used.. and has been used in all situations, mainly innocently and by all people. A word is a word, it only becomes offensive when we deem it so.

Time we get to the nitty gritty of why people get so uppity about simple words!

Really? Because he called people snowflakes?

Nitty gritty was covered when I did Police diversity training (as a civilian instructor). Its complete bo**ox and its has absolutely nothing to do with the dead at the bottom of slaver boats (as claimed) and everything to do with food.

Hatejob is getting uppity
No, I'm getting annoyed, I have no delusions of grandeur about me, unlike Mr "I'm always right" JohnD.
Useless n****er! What is the racist word there ?
Respectable n***er! What's the racist word there ?
Friendly n***er! What's the racist word there ?
Let's be PC and ban the words useless, respectable and friendly as they are used to describe a certain type of person.
Just for clarification, I self censored the "N" word.

I have to admit, am not sure what point you're making here. The N word is still accepted as unacceptable, no matter if put together with a positive word. There's also no need to ever use it.
