Baxi main combi 24 HE

the diverter valve was replaced within the brass housing a few months ago, there are 2 grub screws one at the top and one at the bottom that holds the diverter valve in place to the rest of the assembly

However there appears to be water leaking out of a hole which is next to the grub screw

any ideas what would be causing this?

there is a very small O ring between the diaphragm housing and the diverter valve, no need to drain the boiler , isolate the cold water inlet, open a hot tap, remove the two small pipes , undo the two screws and it will lift out look on the back and you will see the small O ring

Hi Ian,

The small O ring was replaced, I have uploaded a pic where I have indicated where the water is leaking out from

well it is possible to leak from the front end piece of the diverter valve but unusual it is nearly always the tiny O ring, an easy test , isolate the cold water supply and open a hot tap and leave it open, if leak stops it is the O ring if it doesnt it is the front end piece sometimes called the tailplate, but if a new diverter valve would be surprised

When I inserted the new O ring in I ensured it was clean, fully seated in place and also applied some grease, so surprised it could be leaking from there

I will test and report back, if it continues to leak will i need to replace the front end which i believe the part is a pressure differential assembly?

you also have to remove the diaphragm end and clean the pushrod with steel wool and grease that too, as aid an easy test by just turning off the water and opening a tap, if it is coming from the other side you will be losing system pressure

The pressure seems to be fine, so I suspect it's the small O ring, shall i buy a new one or disassemble clean and try again?

usually the old one is flat more like a washer when you remove it and the new one is like a doughnut, it gets compressed when everything is tightened up, it isnt a big job to remove and have a look and see if you have done something wrong, if you need a new O ring you can buy it as a Biasi part about £3 no need to buy the complete service kit

Hi Ian

Upon further inspection the boiler is losing pressure gradually, in this case what do I need to replace?

This bit, I know this one is for a Vokera it is just to show you which part it is they use the same diverter, thought you said it was a new diverter valve so it shouldnt be leaking?

Hi Ian,

I may have got the terminology wrong, this is what i purchased at the time

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/273214571641

Having fitted this kit, there is a leak coming from that hole I circled in red in my first post.

It was fine for a few months but now has started to leak from there

You should have use this kit not the pretend one

Ah ok, should I buy the complete kit? Or just that part you mentioned earlier?
