Heard a strange noise from the en-suite during the night (like a jet taking off) thought it was the extractor with the wind etc. Closer inspection it’s the electric shower. I noticed when I turned it on this morn it was already hot (over 40 deg) then cools to heat up again when the water flows. When switched off it then makes the noise which I now liken to a kettle boiling rather than a jet !! It seems possibly that the heating element is coming on randomly/staying on after stopping ?? The model is a bristan glee electric 10.5kw. Been good as gold for 4 years and gets at least 3 uses per day....any ideas folk ? Or am I looking at a new one ??

When it was making noise in the night, was the pull cord on or off?

We have an isolation switch in the bedroom as opposed to a pull cord but yes it’s always on

And did the shower actually come on (like it was being used) or was it just the kettling sound?

The switch inside the shower is most likely faulty and permanently on. The shower is perhaps cutting off and on with its thermal cut out.
Switch isolator off at pull cord and at consumer unit and have somebody replace the entire shower, as it might be unwise to repair

Why would the isolator be turned off?

Because not everyone leaves them on, and was trying to establish if the fault was purely the shower or something else
