Smart AI Cameras vs Alarm Beams For Perimeter Notifications

It has always been the case that a wired (or wireless) alarm with detectors is the first layer of property security, and CCTV is used as evidence for after any events. However, with the rise of affordable 'smart' AI CCTV software (such as Dahua, Hikvision, BlueIris, etc.), it strikes me that modern cameras are potentially more reliable at filtering out false alerts and therefore this mantra is no longer valid?

I am asking the question as I have been planning an alarm install with a couple of external Optex SL-200TNR perimeter beams and Pyronix external XDL12TT-WE PIR's to 'secure' the perimeter and and an outbuilding entrance. I'd like the system to notify me of anyone lurking outside before they attempt to gain entry into the building. I would then use CCTV to confirm the notification as being genuine or not.

However, I am now under the impression that a CCTV system setup correctly with tripwires and zones could do all of this on it's own and potentially with reduced false alerts from debris and animals? In which case, is there any reason to have an alarm panel with exterior sensors?

Have you seen the optex external detectors that have a bolt on camera
No matter how good the smart detection on cctv ....it will never be better than a proper well designed and implemented external detector which can trigger an alarm ....

Beams do tend to give you the best results when it comes limiting false alarms, but they are expensive a can be hard to install rearging wiring.

I've installed a few Deepinmind Hikvision and I won't say they are false alarm free but they are good if set up correctly at working out the difference between people and animals and limiting false alarms.

I think i've got a optex beam sat in the shed somewhere but if I personally wanted to fit something in my garden I would just fit a decent camera and use analytics instead of going to the hassle of fitting the beam.

The auto tracking ptz cameras are good also they see someone and then just follow them around, very unnerving to someone up to no good having a camera look right at them and follow them around. But they are a bit big and unsightly.

Were these installations using the Hik Deepinmind NVR's which process the image sent from the 'dumb' cameras, or the Acusense cameras which undertake the AI processing themselves? Do you have a preference of which is the superior setup?

One set up was on a building site, Set up around the perimeter of the building being renovated, It used 4mp standard cameras and the NVR did the analytics. Acusense cameras were not available when we did it, not had chance to have go with them but probably would be the way to go now.

What do you think is the benefit of Acusense (or ISD) cameras over a centralised approach of using a Deepinmind NVR?

Cost mainly, if you only need a few cameras with analytics say 5 or 6 a 16 channel Deepinmind NVR are not cheap.
