I recently did an oil change on a Bandit 600cc motorbike and when i went to put the plug back on it rung. I got it retreaded but it was done crooked and now leaks.
Its only slightly off but enough for a slow drip. The copper washer was not crimped whole way around.

Would a thicker copper washer sort this out? Or any other method??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try a crushable copper washer.

When you had it rethreaded, are you talking about a helicoil or just shoving a tap through the thread?
Whatever happens, you don't want the plug coming out so if the thread is reasonable I'd consider blue Hylomar on the thread then wrapping it with ptfe tape followed by a crushable copper washer.
I do recall that crushable washers were used on Peugeot diesels sump plugs a few years ago - which also explains why I really need to get out more :ROFLMAO:

It was re-threaded to a bigger thread. It most of been done crooked cause you can see the gap on one side when the plug is screwed in without the washer. It's not much........could you get an oring to seal it? Something able for the heat?
 
Unfortunately an O ring isn't suitable unless the sump plug has a groove machined in it to retain the ring.....without it the ring will just squish out of place.
Heldite is an excellent product and I use it on oil tank installations but I don't know if its meant as a permanent fix or a temporary one - others may know better. Hence the recommendation of Hylomar as obviously the plug will need to come out again.

Slightly off topic, but when reusing copper washers is it worthwhile annealing them (i do, have had the same copper washer through last 10 oil changes, what could go wrong?)
 
Seal it in permanently with araldite or something and suck the oil out through the filler at every oil change.
 
If its a standard flat copper washer then annealing would do no harm.....the crushable ones are much thinner and do have a limited re-use life.....maybe twice.
Any scoring or distortion of the washer and its best to call it a day.
I use blue Hylomar all the time on sump plugs and washers - new or s/h.

The Bandit has a GSX-derived engine and it is possible (though wearisome) to take the bottom off, though I have never needed to do it.

I no longer have anything similar to look at.
 
The Bandit 1200 has a separate alloy sump pan but I can't comment on the 600.....never seen one.
If we ever get a post back from ChrisMc it could be a good move to wire the plug in place.
