Plasterboard brand. Gyproc, Knauf British Gypsum, Siniat. What the best?

As the lockdown is slowing everything down and no delivery at moment. I was wondering what would be the best plasterboard brand to use.

Moast DIY sell Knauf or Gyproc? Are those any good?

As I live near a train line I was wondering to use soundblock for ceiling as well. Is it worth the extra money?

At last what would be the best choice between tapered and no tapered as this will be plastered on top?

Some of the British Gypsum boards we've had lately have been pants, but I fear that may be more of our supplier storage issues.

If you are dabbing it's important the boards are fresh and rigid and have that nice 'ring' to them. Nowt worse that a floppy board that cuts badly and then refuses to behave when levelling up on the dabs.

I'm saying that fresh is better than brand although all the Knauf and Lafarge stuff we used to get from our old BM was good gear.

i find the knauf behave like that. don’t cut clean , as if theres a degree of moisture.
prefer gypsum myself . but as stated , I think its a lot to do with storage.
soundbloc is a waste of time and money imo. better off with soundproofing in between.
i never use tapered edge . mainly because i never tape and joint, everything gets skimmed , no excuses.

if youve got the voids exposed, ceilings down or floors up and living near a train line , be daft not to.

i used rockwool 100mm sound insulation slabs in one of my rentals recently. good results and easy to install.

I've replaced all of my downstairs ceiling, filled in between joists with insulation and doubled boarded. There is no sound transfer from downstairs to upstairs.

Doing all refurbish. All ceiling are exposed. So I could stick Rockwall inside before closing down
