Honeywell To Hive Dual Receiver Help Please!

Hi all,
I hope someone can help. I recently purchased a hive dual channel receiver for my Worcester boiler which works alongside an immersion tank. The existing system was a Honeywell setup consisting of:

- Wireless thermostat (battery powered in hallway)
- BDR91 Wireless relay box (in cupboard with immersion tank)
- ST9100C Timer / Programmer (next to boiler and connected to it via a cable)

I originally misunderstood how it worked and wasn't aware of the BDR91 box. I thought the wireless thermostat just spoke directly to the ST9100C and that then told the boiler what to do.

Thinking the above, I installed my hive hub, replaced my old wireless thermostat with my new hive wireless thermostat, and then switched the ST9100C for the hive receiver.

I initially thought this was working fine but the heating isn't working correctly (green light comes on but it's not working) and I'm pretty sure the old BDR91 is the cause, because if I switch the old wireless thermostat on it can control the heating still.

I've read quite a bit online and I think I need to move the receiver from where the ST9100C (next to the boiler) was and instead put it where the BDR91 is (in the immersion tank cupboard). But I just want to check this is correct and find out what I then do with the cable that comes out of the boiler (I think I either need to put the ST9100C back or jump some cables but not certain).

I hope that's clear. And any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I think you’ve misunderstood the Hive dual channel. If you’ve only wired up at the BDR end to the Hive,it won’t do much. Hive dual channel would need to replace the st9100, if you only want heating control via Hive, then single channel is best.

Thanks for your reply. I'd like it to do both the hot water and the heating. I currently have the receiver where the ST9100C was, however it's not controlling things correctly. The lights come on as they should when you turn the heating up or the hot water off / on but the heating is not coming on / off when requested. I thought this may be because the BDR is still sitting next to the immersion tank and plugged in (and the old wireless thermostat still works). Do I just need to remove the BDR entirely to stop it interfering with the hive? I'd like hive to do everything I just wasn't aware of the BDR until after I installed the hive and things were not working correctly. Thanks.
 
Ah sorry, I misread, I thought you’d put the hive where the BDR was. So try joining the 2 A and B wires at BDR in a connector block, ignoring the live and neutral. See if this works, if it does the you can make a more substantial connection, or alter wires in wiring centre.

Thank you ill give this a go. This is along the lines of another post I was reading as I know you can eliminate the BDR with a number of wiring changes / junction boxes etc. I just wanted to check I wasn't going completely wrong with how I have the rest of it in my head.

Thank you so much Chris! Really appreciate your help with this! You were right on the money. I tied up the A and B for testing and it worked perfectly. I've since traced the BDR wiring to a honeywell junction box, removed all the wiring for the BDR and connected up the equivalent A and B terminals inside it. It's all working beautifully now and nice and neat. All the best and thanks again, I was feeling pretty defeated last night but so glad it's now sorted and I understand what's going on! Take care.
