PVA or just wet these walls for dot and dab?

The walls are internal brick leaf - a bit dusty after all the black old plaster was removed.

What is the best prep before they are dotted and dabbed?

The walls are pretty much like that.

A bit dusty with some loose mortar in some places.

To dot and dab on that - should you use 5:1 PVA or just water and dab straight on?

Don't forget to leave a gap at the bottom of the wall when you plasterboard and put a continuous bead of adhesive along the bottom so you have something to fix your skirting to

The walls are a bit dusty so PVA them 5:1 and the next day dot and dab.

Or can you go around the whole house and PVA at once? then dot and dab.

If the walls are 2.7m high - should we get 2.7m x 1.2m 12.5mm plasterboard or better to use 2.4m? I take it as its being plastered over to get square edge.

How big a gap should be left at the bottom - the plasterboard should not touch the floor.

5:1 pva will do it, spray it on with a garden sprayer. in fact the weaker the better , theres sufficient mechanical key on those walls.
a 1 1/2” gap at the bottom downstairs.
you don’t really need a gap upstairs , i just pack or space as necessary to get level and plumb.
i rarely use a continuous adhesive at the bottom ,as it can tend to cause more mess than its worth and stop you getting your packers out. when i’m done my walls are perfectly flat meaning my skirtings can be bonded on easily.
