I bought a used glass partition for my little office, but it’s not in great condition. All across it there are smears/stains - I don’t know what’s caused them, perhaps there was something stuck to the glass. It just makes it look like the glass is dirty.

However, I’ve tried scrapers, scourers (which scratched the glass!), window cleaner, ‘special’ glass cleaner, and finally a steam cleaner but none work.

Any suggestions on what to use folks?

Thanks
Andy

That looks as if it is ingrained in the glass. Halfrauds sell intensive glass cleaner, comes in a small blue plastic bottle and is used to clean car windscreens. It may be worth a try.

If you do manage to get the marks off you can then clean the glass using warm water with an egg cup full of meths mixed in. The meths will remove grease and dries streak free. Use a chamois leather.

thanks old salt, now you’ve suggested that I realise I actually have some windscreen cleaner like that somewhere, and also a clay bar too, for a car project some time ago. Will dig it out and try!
