there is nothing wrong with anecdotal evidence, but you have to consider it in context with wider research.

I would agree in the specific context of new build construction, especially with the big 6, Eastern Europeans have lowered wages

but that can also be blamed on the profit motivation of house builders -using unskilled electricians for first fix then using certified ones for testing etc
you only have to look at the snagging problems of new builds to see the short cuts.

In the South East, local town builders and the smaller outfits -they all struggle to get labourers and always have done.

there has been a shortage of brickies for years -hence the daily rate going up to and over £250.
