Single gang extension to double

Thanks for your time and any input.

I'm thinking this is safe to do but just want some confirmation before I go ahead.

I've got a single gang extension lead buried in the wall with a 13amp fuse plug.

Am I okay to remove the single gang socket and rewire it with a double instead?

If you're wanting to replace a Single Socket outlet for a Double Socket either by chasing in a newer back box or having a larger surface mounted version then yes. Why on earth is an Extension lead buried in a wall though?

Do you mean the extension lead has one single outlet ,and you want to replace it for a double on the end of the extension lead ?

Sigh don't ask.

Opened up chimney breast, boarded it ready for brick slips. Was going to be decorative only, no fire. At this point I'd redecorated the whole room to.

Morning of fitting brick slips Mrs decides might be nice put an electric fire in instead. No way was I chasing walls at this point. Only option was to remove a board from chimney opening and feed a single gang extension lead through.

It's only used an hour or so a night so not getting excessively used.

Anyway the Mrs now wants lights in the opening so could do with changing from 1 gang to 2 on the extension lead.

I'm aware this probably isn't upto regs haha.

Do you mean the extension lead has one single outlet ,and you want to replace it for a double on the end of the extension lead ?

That looks really nice, much better than my attempt.
The batten across the top was just for the plasterer and was removed and finished with dark hardwood, a 6x2 fixed under the lintle sticking out 4" and 3x1 down the sides sticking out 2" something like this:

The sides are slips but the bricks at the rear are whole to create a narrow chimney and mortar was a dark grey. Then the dippy 'er indoors decided she wanted brick effect wallpaper on the chimney breast. Base was finished with Dark brown floor tiles with grey specks when the fire was changed.
I only started the project because the original tiled surround came away from the wall and the builders rubble cascaded out when I moved this detritus and stood on the hearth:
