Barnier begging Macron to drop Brexit demands on fishing

I wonder if Macron thought to mention to Ireland they might need to switch their lights off.

Macron in last-ditch Brexit punishment with threat to devastate UK with energy blockade
EMMANUEL MACRON confirmed that the EU would launch a devastating energy embargo against the UK if Boris Johnson refuses to give in on fisheries.

Emmanuel Macron reacted furiously to Boris Johnson's claims that trade talks are "over" between the UK and EU. Mr Macron has played hardball in the talks on fisheries, insisting on Thursday that French fishermen would "not be sacrificed" for the sake of a deal. However, if the UK leaves the EU without a deal then French fishermen could faced being banned from British waters.

In response, the French President has signalled the EU would launch a devastating energy embargo against the UK unless Boris Johnson gives in on fisheries.

Tis the beggining of the end for the EU
Still?

That same old twaddle was trotted out years ago. When will the beginning end and the end finally begin? We've been waiting for over four years and still nothing has happened. Still the same enthusiasm from current members as there always has been.

Get Brexit Done, lol.

I can't get any enthusiasm for pasta dishes. After all, it's only what you put on /in it that makes it worth eating.

I lived there for a year, living out of restaurants, other than as a starter, I was never offered pasta and only ever came across one pizza place. People have peculiar ideas of what the Italians tend to eat.

Brexit is the beginning of the end for the UK.

Same old twaddle trotted out by the remoaner

Blimey we have been hearing this for years

Get Brexit Done

Johnson will go down in history as the best pm we have ever had :sneaky::sneaky:

My mother and sister are EU citezins so imo it is my business
So you voted against their rights (and their offspring's) in the UK, and you and your offspring's rights in the EU/EEA?
(unless of course you are all dual nationals or you are counting in the transition period)

And you want the EU to fail because exactly why?

Why would that be?

Ireland is a net exporter of electricity.

Oh shut up Notch, the border area is a mass of extension cables all plugged into the UK.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_in_Ireland

Ireland is a net energy importer. Ireland's import dependency decreased to 85% in 2014 (from 89% in 2013). The cost of all energy imports to Ireland was approximately €5.7 billion, down from €6.5 billion (revised) in 2013 due mainly to falling oil and, to a lesser extent, gas import prices.[1] Consumption of all fuels fell in 2014 with the exception of peat, renewables and non-renewable wastes.[1]

Final consumption of electricity in 2017 was 26 TWh, a 1.1% increase on the previous year. Renewable electricity generation, consisting of wind, hydro, landfill gas, biomass and biogas, accounted for 30.1% of gross electricity consumption.[2]
