Water getting into car

My car is leaking water from somewhere, it's not underneath as it's getting in when it's standing. It's not much, there's no standing water, just noticeable by excessive misting inside.

I've bought some smoke pellets, normally used for chimney leak detection, they claim the "smoke" is oil free, non toxic, non acidic.

Anyone think this might have unforeseen (by me) consequences, apart from setting fire to the car?

Smoke machines cost a fortune, even to rent.

Hmm, maybe, but the windscreen was replaced a while back and I think water was getting in before that.

Seems a bit excessive for condensation, I guess the smoke test may tell.

Hmm, not a bad shout, the car does lose a bit of coolant, I might put some fluoresene into the coolant too. See if I can see any leaks from the heater matrix.

Door rubber, parked on a slope? Try parking facing the other way if water is seeping through a seal it may help to track it down.

Any sign of dampness in the foot wells, front and back?
Another place is the rear lamp clusters which allow the boot to fill up.
A typical VAG fault, water flowed down the inside of the door (fair enough) but then drained to the inside rather than outside.....some layers of kitchen paper indicated that one.
There will be a smell if the heater matrix is leaking - and best of luck curing that one!

Ahh rainwater leaking into the car, how I miss my Megane! Nothing like an electric window going down (and staying down) on its own in the middle of a downpour.
