For what you've posted you should be looking at vaillant, Baxi and Worcester they have big service teams and are really well covered country wide.

Intergas are good but are small in the UK and don't have the same resources as the others.

It was my understanding that is was the Glow-worm, as you say.

As it happens my next door neighbour did have British Gas fit one a year go. They did, initially, have a bit of a hiccup insofar as it made a noise like a foghorn for many weeks or months even.Took them a few goes to solve the problem but it's fine now.

Excluding the installation charges, I ended up paying less for an EcoTec Plus 418 than BG wanted for an EcoFit Pure 415! The whole job came to almost £1,800 LESS than BG through an independent Vaillant approved installer.

Well I am indeed sorry to have incurred your displeasure and consider myself well and truly reprimanded and and assure you I now know my place and limitations when considering future contributions on your forum (I'm guessing it is yours?).

But you've kindly offered a comprehensive (albeit slightly inaccurate) psychological assessment of my reasoning and thought processes in posting here today but best not pursue the matter.

However, I do acknowledge the further advice you've offered in the latter part of your post and shan't ignore it.

That's a shame to be honest, it's tough out their commercially,

Not sure if that's good or not, it either says the boilers are super reliable and won't need engineers or when it goes wrong food luck to then sorting it out.

I presume intergas allow approved installers to carry out warranty repairs on intergas behalf?

Edit: Just Googled and its a cheap Italian boiler. I came across this though - "One thing Ferroli pride themselves on with the Modena range, is the lack of moving parts. There are only four moving parts in the Modena boiler". Isn’t that the same as the Intergas? Do they share parts as I seem to remember anyone praising Intergas used to say that they were the only boilers that had just four moving parts?

I don't understand what Razor means in his earlier post, but I'm not in the trade and others will know more about it.

I'm starting to think that maybe they did me a favour by not ringing back? Perhaps, despite, all the best intentions in trying to buy sensibly, I'd have shot myself in the foot if I'd gone down the Intergas route.?

Ferroli made some bullet proof boilers back in the early 90s (albeit leaky around the fibre washer joints).
Like all the cheaper Italian boilers most were illegal installs (ie. very rough) done by builders/gang masters etc.
In the late 90s they then brought out a series of very simple bi-thermal heat exchanger boilers that were plagued with very basic design faults (including abysmal expensive Honeywell circuit boards).
Then the condensing range were launched with even more problems....
From what I heard the UK importer was in serious trouble but Ferroli had a re-launch with the new Modena (a simpler condensing range) and new staff (who were oblivious to the dire reputation).
I see so few Ferrolis nowdays I've no idea whether they are still struggling.

Think they have stopped the Modena and now only do the blue helix range.

Unfortunately the late 90's and the early 00's wasn't kind to them, and they have struggled to turn the business around in the UK.

They are still huge in Europe.

Ferroli UK are struggling a bit , I couldn't find an installer for toffee (I like the blue helix boiler and it works really well with open therm) but the support was next to zero around where I live.

For warranty work they now rely on approved installers that cover certain areas. They do have some of there own guys but I believe they have dwindled down a fair bit.

They did try relaunching via city plumb but the take up they hoped for never happened.

Lastly ferroli and intergas and not the same and they share zero parts, and are designed very differently. And there new boilers have more than 4 moving parts as they have gone the way as all other brands.

Longterm the Intergas will outlast your vaillant 418 by quite a margin.
Group service (glowworm/vaillant) won't even entertain repairs if there 10 years or older.
