Replace TRV with 8mm pipe

I have a faulty TRV. When the pin is fully open, it's fine. But I notice it leaks when the pin is depressed and the TRV is off. I've tried giving it a tap, wiggle, and some WD40.

I'm looking to replace the TRV and re-use the nut/olive - so I can swap the TRV over without having to cut any pipe etc (especially since there's no "spare" length on the pipe).

What TRV should I be looking for - some are for both 8mm and 15mm (like this) but I'm not 100% sure if that will allow me to do what I want.

Any advice?

Looks like a standard 15mm TRV with a reducing set in it, so any 15mm TRV will fit

Thanks - Is there anything I should consider, or is it a case of adding some jointing compound stuff around the olive. Any need for the tape on the threads here?

Doesn't look like a 15 mm inlet on that valve ,looks like it's for microbore ,judging by the size of the compression nut.

If you want a fairly straightforward swap ,without having to amend Pipework ,then you need a valve with inlet port for your supply pipe size ,think you said it's 8 mm ?

Hmm Terry may well be right here. And no, you don't need PTFE on the threads

But you will need to get the same make / size TRV. 15mm into rad, 8mm onto pipe

Yes, the pipe is 8mm. As mentioned in the original post this one says it is for both but not 100% if it would allow to swap out without amending the pipe.

Any valve that comes with reducers for 8 mm is no use ,unless you want to frat about cutting off olive from pipe and fitting the reducer set. You need a valve that comes with an 8 mm olive ,and hopefully the same thread on the nut as what you have . The easiest thing would be to replace the existing valve for another that's identical. There should be manufacturers ID / brand info on the actuator head ,is there ?

Managed to swap it out for a Pegler 8mm valve and all good so far!
