Hi

The bulb in our porch light fitting has blown so I need a replacement.

The old bulb is an old-fashioned incandescent one. It is the traditional shape and has a normal B22 fitting, but the bulb is small/short. The total length (including the bayonet end) is three and a half inches, or about 9cm.

I don't mind whether the new one is LED or incandescent or whatever, as long as it's short enough to fit. And reasonably bright - at least equivalent to 60w.

I've been on various websites but can't find any that give the bulb length.

Any suggestions welcome!

Regards, Louise

Thank you. It's not a golf ball, it's the traditional 'pear shape' type. But a golf ball bulb would be fine, as long as it's short and with a B22 fitting. So, thanks again!

Do you mean something like this. If so, I don't think you'll find bigger than 25W ..

Edit: whoops - missed Andy's post, but at least I've added an illustration!!

LED golf ball lamp is around 75mm in length.

The LED pear shape (called GLS) are around 11cm.

A picture of yours would be really cool!

Here's a pic. It's about 9cm total length, or three and a half inches.

I think I'll have to get a golf ball bulb; it doesn't matter if it's a little short.

Thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated.

By the way, this bulb was bought from Tesco within the last ten years or so!
It has the Tesco logo on the top. And '60w'

Yeah, in later years they made a version of the GLS lamp that was more compact.

If there isn't space for the 11cm one, you could buy a golfball.

Is it visible? By that I mean is the cover on the lamp see-through or opaque?

It is visible, but it doesn't matter, as it's high up in a small porch.

Golf ball it is, then! cheers.

Ah, yes, my mother used to have some of those. They still seem to be around (at least, on eBay) - this one is said to be 87mm (less than 3½") tall ....
