Need to book a covid test. Under the rules, it must be 60-72 hours before travel, which means between 6.30pm and 12.30pm on a Monday.

You'd think by now it would be easy to book that. Tried boots, completely useless - they are quick to take the £120 payment but you pay before they even share available times you can book - cannot even find out if they are open in the evening!

so stressful. and why is this so hard still?

Don't book, just turn up at your nearest walk in one. Daughter tried to book, wanted her to go from here to Portsmouth (about 75 miles). Looked online and found 3 testing centre within 2 miles, you can book, but you can also just turn up. She went and was back within an hour.

I went to a drive in booked by my hospital. But also go Mrs Bod booked in. It cost nothing and had the result next day.

My daughter, her boyfriend, his brother and his girlfriend and the boyfriends mum and dad all had it done the other day. All of them got clear results and my daughter got her results in less than 30 minutes. They all live near each other in North London and they are doing mass testing over there for those without symptoms.

I predict cases will soar.

If, as they say, all school pupils will be tested, when/if the term starts, I predict cases will soar even more.

That means lateral flow. They're not useful for clearing someone as they only pick up around half of positive cases.

They are very useful to pick up some cases to help identify people who should be isolating, but that's slightly different.

I suppose it is too much to expect for a free, walk-in, 30 minute service.

Why? You self-diagnosed as "definitely had it" before.
