A German car
Really?

Engine plant is in Brixworth, Northamptonshire, started by a couple of chaps who worked at Cosworth Engineering.
Car works is in Brackley, Northamptonshire.

Now owned by Mercedes (German) and sponsored by Petronas.

I'd say they're as British as most companies on the world scene with more then 50 employees.

Never really understood why John Surtees

Was never knighted

His achievement In Motor sport was and is unique and will. Probably never be repeated?

F1 World champion and motor cycle world champion

That must mean then he came first in every race and his team mate came second in every race, surely?

I'm more inclined to salute German engineering and a great effort from Mercedes.

Apart from the fact Mercedes F1 like most other F1 teams is based in England, their chief engineer being British too.

The UK leads the world in specialist? Car tech

There are more specialist car manufacturers and associated companies in the UK than any where else in the world

Quality German engineering can be moved across The Channel, car companies do it all the time.

Good ole Mercedes, good ole Gerries.(y)

There are more NASCAR manufacturers and associated companies in US than anywhere else in the world.
Etc.

Mercedes always seem first to allow beneficial F1 technology to filter down to their road cars too. Much copied are the Gerries.(y)

You might want to look where German cars feature on reliability surveys. Hint: it's not high.
